La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva 890 2004 is a red wine with Rioja Qualified Denomination of Origin and produced by La Rioja Alta, S.A. It is only made in the most exceptional vintages and constitutes a brilliant apotheosis of complexity, finesse and delicacy.
It is composed of Tempranillo (95%) and Mazuelo (2%) grape varieties from Briñas, Labastida and Villalba vineyards, and Graciano (3%) from the Montecillo estate. During the harvest only the best bunches are selected. After being destemmed and crushed, the grapes pass to the tanks for fermentation.
This Gran Reserva 890 Rioja Alta is aged in American oak barrels (made in the cellar's cooperage) for 6 years, in which they make 10 racking and only select the best barrels for the coupage. In March 2011, it was bottled to be rounded until its market launch.
Production limited to 38,000 bottles.
